I’m In
A story about choosing a life of my own.
I’m In traces my journey from Wall Street and Silicon Valley to the jungles of Panama, and eventually to the work I do today as a transformational facilitator.
In my mid-thirties, I was single, leaving behind a respected career to go live in the jungle. If you know anything about being a daughter in Korea, you might understand why this felt like one of the greatest sins I could commit against my mother.
And yet, in many ways, I was doing it to honor her.
My mother and I shared the same birthday. She spent much of her life sacrificing for others, and she died of cancer far too young, in her fifties. Losing her left me with a question I could no longer ignore:
If I, too, could die young, what would make my life worth living?
I became determined to live a life that was truly my own.
That search took me through grief, spiritual exploration, unexpected places, and some unconventional choices. Along the way, I began discovering the courage to listen to myself, the compassion to make peace with my past, and the freedom to build a life closer to what I actually desired.
I wrote I’m In in Korean and published it in Korea, my home country. I wanted to share something I had needed to hear myself, in the place where I felt this message might matter most:
There isn’t just one way to live a meaningful life.
Ultimately, I’m In is about what happened when I stopped trying to perform my life and began learning to be fully in it — with courage, trust, and compassion.
